Music has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up listening to reggae music and it became the rhythm of my life. I've always loved the dancehall scene, huge speakers and whining waists. But what I came to realise is that music is so much more than a rhythm and beat. Music is spiritual. The music you listen shapes your reality, it either sets you free or keeps you in mental bondage. In my walk with Christ I have been convicted about listening to secular music. I cant listen to music that does not glorify God, it grieves the Holy Spirit within me. That was when Holy Spirit told me to create my own.
Music has a way of articulating stories and messages that mean something different to each listener. Music, true music created by inspired artists is political. It tells a story of the world around us and is a snap shot of society at the time and location in which the song was recorded. Yisrael the album articulates my journey in healing, mental emancipation and self acceptance. Knowledge puffs up, but wisdom is the principal thing.
