“Better is open rebuke than hidden love.” – Proverbs 27:5 (NIV)
Sometimes we confuse love with silence. We hold back truth to avoid conflict, we bite our tongue to keep the peace, and we assume that others just “know” how we feel. But this Proverb challenges that thinking—love that stays hidden isn’t as powerful as truth that speaks.
Real love doesn’t hide. It may confront, correct, or call out, but it does so for the sake of healing. It’s better to have someone who loves you enough to tell you the truth than someone who flatters you into ruin.
Today, ask yourself: Is your love silent when it should speak? Or bitter when it should bless? Don’t just feel love—show it, say it, live it. Be the kind of person whose care is visible and whose truth is tender.
Because love, when expressed in wisdom, transforms lives.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to love with boldness and wisdom. Help me not to hide my care or withhold the truth. Make me a vessel of loving correction and honest encouragement. Let my love be seen, not assumed—spoken, not buried. In Jesus’ name, amen.
